As elsewhere in Turkey, the yacht charter fleet in the area is much diminished, but Marmaris and Goçek are the leading charter basesis one of the many jewels of the Turkish south west coast. Akbuk, English Harbour, Seven Islands, and Cleopatra's Beach are notable anchorages. Further south, the ruins of Knidos are worth a visit and the anchorage is most attractive. We have always had a soft spot for Palamut as well - a dusty little resort town for the locals. Datça is a good place to reprovision or check in or out of Turkey. The same goes for the charming Bozburun in the next major bay. Along with Bodrum, Bozburun is famous for building fine gulets.

This is an area to linger and savour. Many bays have restaurant piers that are usually free for those eating there. Water and electricity are often included.

Sadly, you can no longer dip in and out of Greece, so Kos and Symi mean checking in and out of each country - not really worth the hassle.
