If you want to stay in Corfu Town (warmly recommended) then this is one of two serious alternatives. (NAOK is the other). Overshadowed by the slightly opppressive cliffs looming behind, this is nonetheless a most attractive spot with a warm welcome. We had opted for NAOK and dropped in here for fuel. On future trips we will head here and accept the climb up to town.

Corfu town is a major destination for large cruise liners for understandable reasons. It is a beautiful 19th century town. However 4 large cruise ships mean upwards of 10,000 tourists per day and all the negatives that go with such a massive inflow. Shopping is totally distorted by this, as are the restaurants. True the cruise passengers have all left in the evening, but Corfu is such a popular tourist destination that it is easy to earn a living without trying too hard and this takes away much of the charm of somewhere beautiful.
