Sailing in Croatia

Croatia offers some of the most beautiful sailing in the whole of the Mediterranean - many would say THE MOST BEAUTIFUL. The Kornati Islands are certainly a wonderful sailing experience.

Be aware however that the season is shorter than further south and marina prices verge on the eye-watering much of the time.

We have divided the country into three main sailing regions - north, central, and south. This is somewhat arbitrary, and the south tends to mean the southern islands between Split and Dubrovnik.

Visiting sailors need to be aware that this is a Slavic country with a difficult recent past. Officialdom is officious, and Slavs are less extrovert than Latins or even Turks. The charter industry is huge and very dependent on the German market. Private yachtsmen are not that common and do not fit so easily into the prevailing charter focused culture.
