Sailing in Corsica
Corsica is quite simply a superb sailing destination. We are based there at Saint Florent, so completely unbiased! It can be windy and the prevailing direction is W and NW. Since the west coast is by far the more attractive of the two, this can be a bit of a problem. In the event of a big Mistral it is a major issue! In reasonable summer weather there are innumerable safe anchorages, although it may be difficult to avoid a bit of a roll at times.
As well as fine anchorages, Corsica has a number of beautiful small towns starting with Saint Florent. Calvi, Ajaccio, Bonifacio, and Bastia are all right on the coast and wonderful places to visit. A quick glance at the map below gives a clear idea of the density of places to spend the night.
