A new generation of portable 1 to 3Kw  solar power plants is now available that use portable folding solar panels to provide up to 800w to the storage unit. This can then power a number of 110/220v appliances. This can be at a remote site where there is no mains electricity, or at home to reduce your energy bill. Given that the system is totally portable, it will generally not require official permission to be deployed.
